Landscape Quilting Made Simple
Learn step-by-step how to translate a scenic photo into a landscape quilt.
Begin to “think like a painter” as Barb shares how to choose a natural palette and develop depth in a landscape quilt by using the seven-step value scale.
Under African Skies
History and inspiration merge as Barb reveals the influence of early African-American designs on the American art of patchwork quilting. Barb shares the art of storytelling from Harriet Powers to the infamous Gee’s Bend quilters. Learn the technique of spontaneous piecing as you embrace ethnic motifs and palettes in your own work.
WORKSHOPS
An informative lecture is followed by a four-to-six hour, hands-on class with personal step-by-step instructions on how to use Barb’s favorite methods to complete an art quilt. Participants will receive help with design composition, fabric selection using a value scale, and learn useful appliqué and embellishment techniques. A take-home packet includes a comprehensive class outline, bibliography and a list of Barb’s favorite supplies.

Use free-style or freezer paper pattern methods to create a landscape from a quilter’s perspective. Barb demonstrates just how easy free-motion stitching can be!

A three-hour class limited to 15 students
Learn to create dimensional plants, and animals with thread... just thread. Embellish your fiber art with Texture. See how easy it is to make trees, flowers, leaves and even cactus with a few basic free-motion techniques. and a little fabric.. A must-have class for landscape quilters. Hands-on instruction for each student.
